Halloween candy still lifes: a tiny tribute to the classics
I don’t know about you, but for me, the best part of trick-or-treating was dumping out my hard earned candy haul across the living room floor and sorting everything into piles.
The top picks. The trades. The stuff you only ate when everything else was gone.
There was a whole economy in those moments. Carefully brokered swaps. Quiet judgments. A sense of pride in what you scored and mild despair when the “healthy neighbors” handed out raisins.
This photo series is my ode to the full spectrum of October 31. The candy we traded. The candy we hoarded. The candy we secretly resented but still somehow ate in January.
Each image treats familiar Halloween staples as little objects of nostalgia and design. Gummy textures. Glossy wrappers. Colors that practically vibrate with sugar.
These still lifes celebrate the misfits and the underdogs, right alongside the Halloween hall of fame. Because every piece in that bag told a story.
The question remains. What would you keep and what stays at the bottom of the bag?
Styled, lit, and photographed by me. A sweet little trip down memory lane.
Happy Halloween, everyone 👻
