Creative shoot: sewing circle
A still life study using sewing notions arranged as sculptural forms. A quiet look at color, balance, and the small personalities inside everyday materials.
This project started as a small exercise in slowing down. I set out to photograph sewing notions as sculptural forms, focusing on color, balance, and the quiet character of everyday materials. The goal was simple: pay attention, build each composition with intention, and let the objects shape the story.
Every object brought its own personality. The pin cushion leaned into bold color and graphic contrast. The measuring tape became a line study. The zippers worked as a soft rhythm. The spools and scissors shifted the series into more sculptural territory, introducing silhouette, height, and shadow.
I kept the lighting clean and controlled to create a consistent world across the images. The backgrounds stay neutral and minimal, allowing the objects to carry the composition.
Working with simple materials pushed me to be more precise about shape, proportion, and tone. Small adjustments changed the entire mood of an image. The project became a reminder that still life work is often about restraint and clarity rather than complexity.
This series opened the door to a new body of work exploring everyday tools and cosmetics as architectural forms. The next chapter focuses on beauty objects photographed with the same restrained, sculptural approach.
